निरंजनो निराकरो एको देवो महेश्वर:। मृत्यू मुखम् गतात् प्राणं बलात रक्षति:॥ 

Niranjano nirakara, eko devo Maheswara,
mrityu mukhan ghatam pranam, bala dakrshya rakshate.

 

निरंजन एंव निराकार महेश्वर ही एक मात्र देव हैं
जो मृत्यू के मुख मे गए हुए प्राणों की बलपुर्वक रक्षा करने में समर्थ हैं।”

Om, We Worship the Tryambaka (the Three-Eyed One),
 

Who is Fragrant (as the Spiritual Essence), Increasing the Nourishment (of our Spiritual Core);
From these many Bondages (of Samsara) similar to Cucumbers (tied to their Creepers),
May I be Liberted from Death (Attachment to Perishable Things), So that I am not separated from the perception of Immortality (Immortal Essence pervading everywhere).

 

Lord Shiva is also known as Mahadev, the Supreme Divinity. The iconographic form of the Shiva, the Linga represents the unity of the three states of cosmos. As Sadasiva (eternal reality) Shiva is represented as linga, standing also for 'total knowledge'. As Rudra, the destroyer, his consort is Kali. As Bhairava, the terrible destroyer, his consort is Durga. He is also depicted as a benevolent god living in the Himalayas, a householder with wife Parvati and his two children Ganesha and Kartikeya.  Shiva is also depicted as a cosmic dancer, Nataraja, the one who keeps up the rhythm of the world in cosmos. At the highest level, Shiva is regarded as formless, limitless, transcendent and unchanging absolute Brahman, and the primal Atman (soul, self) of the universe.

According to ancient Hindu thoughts, the frame of the cosmic reality consists of the three fundamental states called evolution (Shrishthi), existence (Sthiti), and involution (Samhara) that acts in a cyclic process of infinity. Controlling these forms is Brahma (the creator), Vishnu (the preserver) and Siva/Shiva (the destroyer); these three Gods are called the Trinity. Shiva is "the transformer" within the Trimurti, the Hindu trinity. In Shaivism tradition, Shiva is the Supreme being who creates, protects and transforms the universe.  His consort, goddess Parvati is stated to be the energy and creative power (Shakti), the equal complementary partner of Shiva.

 

Kasi temple Flint is the first Shiva temple in mainland USA.The Kasi Sri Vishwantha Temple began with a group of dedicated individuals in 1979 getting organized to start a temple in Flint. Four years, and a lot of work later, the Kasi Temple was open! Over the past 30+ years the Kasi Temple has grown substantially, and now includes several members and hosts dozens of events and rituals each year.
